The Philippine Bio Fertilizer Council (PBFC) is a national multi-sector organization dedicated to advancing the development, standardization, and adoption of biofertilizer systems in the Philippines.
PBFC serves as a unifying platform connecting government agencies, private sector players, scientists, farmers, fisherfolk, and investors to address one of the country’s most critical challenges: rising fertilizer costs, supply vulnerability, and declining soil productivity.
With the Philippines highly exposed to fertilizer price volatility due to import dependence , and with government already prioritizing biofertilizer as a strategic response to rising costs , PBFC positions itself at the center of a national transition toward sustainable, cost-efficient, and transparent nutrient systems.
VISION
A resilient Philippines where agriculture and fisheries thrive through sustainable soil and nutrient systems, ensuring food security, farmer prosperity, and environmental balance.
MISSION
To lead the transformation of the Philippine fertilizer ecosystem by promoting biofertilizer adoption, strengthening industry standards, enabling market access, and integrating agriculture and fisheries into a unified, sustainable production system.
CORE PURPOSE
- Reduce dependence on imported chemical fertilizers
- Protect farmers from rising input costs
- Improve soil health and long-term productivity
- Build a transparent and accountable fertilizer ecosystem
- Create a sustainable agribusiness industry around biofertilizers
